What is the purpose of this role?

The Area Delivery Manager is responsible for the delivery of minor capital work and the directly managed capital for planned & reactive maintenance and health & safety. Covering 260 sites, this strategic role is to identify and manage operational risks within the Thames Valley region and manage investment within a 12-24 month horizon.

As part of the Thames Valley Waste Treatment leadership team, this is a challenging and varied role requiring you to proactively lead and drive process improvement. Key to this will be your ability to influence internal stakeholders to gain commitment to improvements within the organisation. With an uncompromising approach to Health, Safety and Wellbeing this is a unique opportunity to oversee operations. The scope of your development is vast and can provide the chance to progress further into other departments.

What will this role involve?

The delivery of asset enhancement initiatives on circa 260 Sewage Treatment Sites. Being accountable for maintaining risk data as well as prioritisation of risks.

Improving process headroom across sites to safeguard compliance, generation and budgetary performance.

Managing £10 - £20m of Capital Investment per year with potential risks of up to £50m

Leading and managing a team of 3 Project Delivery Managers and a Risk Analyst.

Being responsible for the interfaces between Operations and Capital Delivery teams for site improvement schemes.

Driving a culture of safety, performance management and exceptional customer service and experience.

Actively promoting a continuous improvement culture that has sustainable strategic impact on both the Operational teams and the wider business performance.

Demonstrating the ability to remain calm and positive under pressure and inspire others to do the same by maintaining a positive 'can-do' attitude seeing challenges as opportunities.

Consistently raising the performance bar by being demanding, challenging and supportive of your teams and peers.

What skills are we looking for?

The successful candidate will think commercially with regards to all financial expenditure, analysing benefits and risks and articulating sound business cases including the wider business impacts for investment taking into account both OPEX and CAPEX. You will have a proven track record in programme/project management with previous Mechanical/Electrical experience or a process recognised qualification. We also require a candidate with a proven track record of delivering change in operational performance and experience in managing multi-functional (direct or indirect) teams across geographically dispersed areas and have broad business knowledge and demonstrable commercial acumen. To be successful within this role you will have extensive relevant experience with previous team or functional management and possess strong communication and influencing skills and will be able to articulate clear and robust business cases linked to benefits and risk.

Due to the nature of this role a valid driving licence is essential.

Salary details

This role is based out of our head office in Reading, offering a salary of up to £43,000.00 depending on experience and qualifications.
