Salary: £50,000 to £60,000 (plus car allowance and bonus)  

Location: Wessex Region

As one of three Divisional Waste Managers in our Waste Water directorate, you’ll provide strategic management of our sewerage network and sewage treatment assets across your part of the Wessex Water region. 

Your key objectives will be to drive 100% compliance with environmental measures such as effluent quality, disinfection quality, bathing water quality, sludge HACCUP and pollution control while adhering to the necessary safety, quality, time and cost considerations.  Of course, it’s not just about the numbers and we’ll expect you to ensure that your teams provide our expected level of customer service excellence at the same time. 

 

This is a key role in our waste management structure and your management team are responsible for over 80 multi-discipline staff ranging from operators to senior scientists, working over a large area.   

As well as being an engaging and effective people leader, you’ll be able to drive innovation alongside operational excellence. You will interact with a range of internal stakeholders including operations engineering, Wessex engineering services and corporate services functions, as well as external bodies such as the Environment Agency, Natural England, Council representatives and of course, Wessex Water customers. You’ll also be dealing with the media on a regular basis for ongoing public relations and in emergency situations too.

 

To do all of this you’re likely to possess a degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, backed up by significant operational experience in the water industry. Your background will include water and waste treatment process knowledge, as well more generic commercial experience. This breadth and depth of experienced will allow you to provide strategic leadership that is supported by technical credibility and financial acumen.
