SPAA Service Manager


This is an exciting and fast moving time for the UK energy industry. ElectraLink is positioned at the centre of this developing industry interfacing directly with the key UK energy stakeholders such as energy suppliers, distributors and metering organisations as well as the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and Ofgem (the industry regulator).

Energy and utility markets are increasingly competitive and constantly evolving, requiring significant interaction between industry parties, regulators, policy makers and increasingly consumers. To make these interactions work, communications networks, agreements and codes need to be in place to ensure that markets work efficiently and all parties have access to a level playing field.  

Operating at the heart of the electricity and gas markets, ElectraLink provides sector leading support to the operation and the governance of the energy industry. As recognised experts in UK energy processes, we provide data and information management, and code administration and professional services.

The Role

ElectraLink provides a range of administrative, technical secretarial and financial support services to three energy industry governance Code companies.

The SPAA Service Manager’s primary responsibility is to manage the delivery of the Code Administration Service for the Supply Point Administration Agreement (SPAA) in line with our contractual commitments. It is an outward facing role focussed on delivery of service excellence, customer engagement and service quality. Team and workload management will also be central to the role.

The role holder will interface with all SPAA stakeholders including SPAA Parties (transporters and suppliers), other SPAA service providers (e.g. legal advisers), other industry codes and Ofgem where required.

They will be responsible for ensuring our service meets its quantitative and qualitative contractual delivery obligations. This will be achieved through meeting demanding but achievable service levels and the provision of authoritative and substantive advice in relation to the SPAA to internal and external stakeholders.

The role holder will be responsible for the personnel management of the SPAA delivery team including setting performance objectives and bonus targets and monitoring achievement thereof. Accountability is to the Governance Services Manager.

Success will be measured by key accountabilities including the delivery of contracted SPAA SLAs and customer satisfaction.


Key Skills

  • Gas industry knowledge, including knowledge of the industry codes and regulations is a pre-requisite of the role and previous team or project management is highly desirable.
  • Clear and articulate communication both verbally and in writing across a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify and deliver change to improve service.
  • Team leader with the drive and determination to deliver an excellent customer service.
